Sending prayer on the prophet has many virtues and benefits to us all, but what are they? That’s what we will find out.
Benefits of prayer on the prophet
What happens when you send Salawat to the prophet?
It was narrated by Anas ibn Malik that the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: ”If someone sends one prayer upon me, Allah sends ten prayers upon him, He erases for him ten mistakes, and He raises him ten degrees.”
Praying on the prophet one time, Allah will send us blessings ten times, and ten of the mistakes we committed will be erased.
Anas narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said,
“Jibril summoned me and said: ‘If someone sends one prayer upon you, Allah will send ten prayers upon him, and He will raise him ten degrees.’”
Why do we give Salawat to the prophet?
Allah said in the holy Quran:
“Allah s.w.t and His angels send Selawat on the Prophet s.a.w: O you who believe! Send your Selawat upon him and salute him with all respect” (Surah Al Ahzab, 33:56)
Allah told us to send prayers and blessings upon the prophet. We understand from this verse that Allah and all the angels send prayers and blessings to the prophet and we should do the same.
Sending Salawat and blessings only once rewards us with ten blessings from Allah. It was also mentioned in a hadith that sending Salawat to the prophet raises the person ten degrees, rewarded with good 10 deeds, and 10 of his bad deeds are erased.
If you have a wish wanting it to be answered then send blessings and prayers upon the prophet, and your desire gets a higher chance of being answered.
Get rewarded by the prophet’s intercession on the day of judgment. Allah will erase ten sins for every one Salawat you send upon the prophet.
whoever prays upon the prophet he will become near to the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) on the day of judgment.
The prophet and angels will send blessings on you, and they will purify your heart. If you forgotten something you will remember what It was.
You will be saved from poverty, and Allah will guide you to the right path. Furthermore, you will earn Allah’s mercy.
Once you send prayers on the prophet; angels will go to the prophet and show him your name.
What is the benefit of Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam?
When sending prayers (salawat) to the prophet you will get ten rewards. The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“Whoever sends Salawat upon me once, will be blessed for it by Allah ten times.”
Another version of the hadith says:
“Whoever sends Selawat upon me once, will be blessed by it tenfold, erased by it ten sins, and raised by it ten degrees in status”
Praying on the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) will get us closer to him in the afterlife. The prophet said:
“The person closest to me on the Day of Resurrection is the one who sent the most Selawat upon me.”
Furthermore, all your worries will go away, Ubay ibn Ka’ab narrated:
“O Messenger of Allah, I frequently invoke Allah to send Selawat upon you. How much of my supplication should I devote to you (Selawat)?” He said, “You may devote as much as you wish.”
When I suggested “a quarter”, he said, “Do whatever you wish, but it will be better for you if you increase it.” I suggested “a half”, he replied, “Do whatever you wish, but it will be better for you if you increase it.” I suggested “two-thirds”, he then said, “Do whatever you wish but it will be better for you if you increase it.” I said, “Shall I devote all my supplications to send Selawat upon you?”
He said, “Then you will be freed from your worries and your sins will be forgiven.”
Sending prayers to the prophet purifies one’s heart. The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“Send the Selawat upon me, for verily it is a purification for you.”
Allah instructed us in the holy Quran to pray on the prophet:
“Allah s.w.t and His angels send Selawat on the Prophet s.a.w: O you who believe! Send your Selawat upon him and salute him with all respect” (Surah Al Ahzab, 33:56)
What does it mean to send blessings on the prophet?
Sending blessings on the prophet means to say (peace and blessing be upon the prophet). but what does it mean when Allah said in the Quran:
Allah said in the holy Quran:
“Allah s.w.t and His angels send Selawat on the Prophet s.a.w: O you who believe! Send your Selawat upon him and salute him with all respect” (Surah Al Ahzab, 33:56)
Abual Aliyah said: “Allah’s sending blessings to the Prophet, peace be upon him, means that He praises him in front of the angels, and the blessings of angels mean their supplications invoking blessings on the Prophet.”
Al-Thawri said, “Blessings of the Lord mean His mercy, and the blessings of the angels refer to their supplications and seeking forgiveness.”
Ibn Kathir said, “In this verse Allah, the Exalted, informed His servants about the revered status that His Prophet and servant occupies with Him in the higher assembly. He revealed that He praises him in the company of the angels close to Him, and that the angels pray for him, and that He has commanded the inhabitants of the lower world to send their salutations and greetings to the Prophet, so that the lower and the higher worlds would join together in his praise. On this subject there are many hadith. Some of these are given below:
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-’As narrated that he heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, saying, “If anyone invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times over.”
Ibn Mas’ud narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him), said, “The people nearest to me on the Day of Judgment will be the ones most conscientious in invoking blessings upon me.” Tirmizhi reported this hadith, and he considers it a sound hadith. The words “nearest to me”
