Surah Yaseen in the heart of Quran, it is the surah known for making your wish come true, but is that true?

Does reading surah Yaseen grant wishes? Will let’s find out.

Does Surah Yaseen grant wishes?

One of the makkan surahs is surah yaseen, with 83 verses. Surah yaseen affects the soul strongly, and as Allah says in the holy book of Quran “We send down (stage by stage) in the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe: to the unjust it causes nothing but loss after loss.”

In the previous ayah Allah told us that one of the benefits of reading the Quran is that it brings us Allah mercy and heals our souls from the sins we commit.

And as the prophet taught us that some of the Quran surahs are for healing our souls and heart from the sins we make. That’s the primary goal of reading those surahs. A great example of these surah is surah Yaseen.

One of the benefits of reading surah yaseen every day is for fulfilling our wishes. As the prophet Muhammad said “One who recites Surah Yaseen in the morning, Allah Almighty will be responsible for fulfilling all his needs.”

In Surah Al- Balad Allah says: “We have certainly created man into hardship”

Life is not easy and we will always face obstacles and hardships, reciting the Quran and having faith remind us that life is a test. Allah didn’t create us to do nothing but enjoy life, God wants us to ask for help.

We shall get the help we need when we recite surah Yaseen every morning, by always having faith in Allah and not letting anything to stop in the way or make us suspicious of whether God will grant our wishes or not. The key to get your wishes is always to have faith in Allah.

What is Surah Ya-Sin?

One of the makkan surahs is surah yaseen, with 83 verses. Surah yaseen affects the soul strongly and heals it from the sins we commit. Yasin surah contains short phrases and frequent pauses.

The name of the surah comes from the first two Arabic alphabets which are ya and seen. However those two alphabets are not the center of the surah, the message of the surah is not about them. Like the different Quran surahs the alphabets that come in the beginning of the surah is just a symbol or mark to mark the surah from the others.

What is the overall message of Surah Yasin?

Like the other Meccan surahs, yasin focuses on the issue of Tawheed Oneness of God. Additionally our lives after death. And warnings to Meccan’s for not believing Allah prophet and the prophet message to them.

The name of the surah comes from the first two Arabic alphabets which are ya and seen. The letters that come in the beginning of any Quran surah are called Mystery Abbreviated Letters OR Hurrof Al.

According to Abu Hurayrah the Messenger of God said:

مَنْ قَرَأَ يس فِي لَيْلَةٍ أَصْبَحَ مَغْفُورًا لَهُ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَ حم الَّتِي يُذْكَرُ فِيهَا الدُّخَانُ أَصْبَحَ مَغْفُورًا لَه

“Whoever recites Yaseen in the night, will wake up forgiven by the Grace of God, and whoever recites Ha Mim in which Dukhan/Smoke is mentioned, by the Grace of God, will wake up forgiven.”

According to Anas, God’s Messenger said, “Everything has a heart and the heart of the Holy Quran is Yaseen. God will record anyone who recites Yaseen as having recited the Holy Quran ten times.”

Moreover, Maqil ibn Yasaar Muzani reported the Prophet as saying, “If anyone recites Yasin for God’s pleasure, his past sins will be pardoned; so recite it on those who are dying.

Ibn Hibban reported in his Sahih that Jundub bin Abdullah said, “The Messenger of God said:

“مَنْ قَرَأَ يس فِي لَيْلَةٍ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ غُفِرَ لَه”

“Whoever recites Yaseen in the night, seeking the Face of God, will be forgiven”

Also the prophet teaches us that one of the benefits of reading surah yaseen on Friday in addition to surah Saffat and then begging god to fulfill our wishes, it will be fulfilled.

A complete guide to the message of surah Yasin:

In surah yasin Allah tells us some signs of the judgment day. Also in surah al-Fatir, Allah shows us that people who didn’t believe in Allah messengers claim that they would have if Allah had sent them real messengers.

In surah yasin Allah addresses this matter saying that the disbelievers lie to themselves about the true reason why they chose to not believe in god’s prophet.

No matter what the reasons they say, they would never believe in Allah and the messengers because they don’t really want to follow the prophet’s guidance. If they did have any sincerity to believe in what they can’t see they would have followed the prophet guidance.

One of the examples that we see in surah Yasin is the example of the town where God sent three messengers to guide the town people. And even with three messengers they chose not to believe in them.

Even though they did have one of their own telling them that those messengers are telling the truth, and that the message is valid. Despite all of this guidance and reasons for them to believe they chose not to. They refused to open their hearts to the messengers and the man from the town.

In addition to not believing any of that they killed the man for accepting and believing in Allah’s messengers.

The lesson we learn from this story is that when people choose to not believe in Allah’s message they will simply won’t. Because they choose to cover their ears and look away from the truth, and nothing will change that.

It’s all because of human’s arrogance, no matter how many messengers Allah sends them and no matter what miracles they have, disbelievers will always choose to not believe. Actually, this only pushes them further in their defiance.

When it comes to believers, they try their best to spread the truth and sacrifice what they have in the way of achieving their goal. Nevertheless, they have no regrets for choosing to believe in Allah, no matter what is the cost they pay.

Allah will reward believers for whatever they sacrifice in the afterlife, and the reward will be much better than they could ever imagine. That is what yasin surah teaches from the story of the man who was killed for believing in Allah.

Another lesson from the yasin surah is that Allah created everything around us for our sake. This includes the creation of the water, and how god created everything in pairs to allow for reproduction. In addition to the courses of the Sun and the Moon, and the buoyancy of ships in water.

The beginning of surah yasin focuses on the believers and disbelievers with an example of the town to teach us the lesson. But that’s not the only thing the yaseen surah teaches us. The rest of surah yaseen reveal Allah’s powers and the ability to create everything.

Also from the surah we have some insight on the judgment day and what will happen to the believers and disbelievers.

What we learn from surah yaseen is that God created everything around us for our own benefits, to support our needs. That’s why Allah created earth.

However, people neglect the main reason why God created us, which is worshiping; we should thank Allah for everything we have, like being able to see, to speak, and to feel. We should thank Allah for everything we have. Ask God for forgiveness and mercy.

We shouldn’t think that what we have means that Allah doesn’t exist; it’s all signs of Allah’s existence. So that we understand our purpose, and not to let the live pleasures distract us from the truth and worshiping Allah.

That is what we learn from surah yaseen, to understand what will happen to the believers and disbelievers in the afterlife.

In the end the disbelievers will understand that they could never justify the reason behind disbelieving. Even their own limbs will testify against them.

Is there a Hadiths about the benefits of Surah Ya-Sin?

There are many ahadith telling us about the benefits of reading surah Yasin. However most of the ahadith are weak and not supported by any evidence that the prophet said them. But here are some examples of surah yaseen benefits hadith.

Some Examples of ahadith about the benefits of Surah Yasin

Here are some of the hadith about the benefits of reading surah yasin everyday. We will mention them here, however we warn you from believing anything that you hear. You should always make sure that the hadith is true and supported before you start believing it.

“Everything has a heart, and the heart of the Quran is Ya-Sin; whoever reads it, it is as if he has read the Quran ten times.”

“Whoever reads Surah Ya-Sin in one night will be forgiven in the morning.”

“Whoever continues to read it every night then dies, will die as a shahid (martyr).”

“Whoever enters the graveyard and reads Surah Ya-Sin, their (punishment) will be reduced that day, and he will have hasanat (reward) equal to the number of people in the graveyard.”

What are the benefits of reading Surah Ya seen?

Reading surah yasin 41 times benefits, reading surah yasin 72 times, benefits of reading surah yaseen everyday, or benefits of reading surah yaseen 7 times, no matter how many times you read surah yaseen you will be rewarded significantly. So, let’s learn more about the benefits of reading surah yaseen.

Surah Yaseen is the the Heart of Quran

Our Prophet Muhammad said:

“Without a doubt, everything shows at least a bit of kindness, and the core of the Quran is Yaseen Surah. I might want that it be in the core of each adherent of my ummah.”

This hadith shows the importance of reading surah yaseen, some of which is the heart of the Quran. And our prophet urges us to read it. Surah Yaseen gives relief and peace of mind to anyone who reads it. You will gain many rewards from reading surah yaseen. So from thes hadith we get the significance of this surah and that it is the core of the Quran that brings many rewards to us by just reading it.

Reading surah yaseen erases our sins

Another thing that our prophet taught us about reading surah yaseen we see in the following hadith:

“Whoever discussed Surah Yaseen in the late evening looking for Allah’s endorsement, Allah would excuse him.”

Reading surah Yaseen in the middle of the night and asking for the help of Allah and wishing for forgiveness and mercy, Allah will reward us by answering our calls. What’s more important is to read surah yaseen with faith that Allah will help us. Reading the Quran generally eases the mind and gives us peace. Imagine if you read surah yaseen with complete confidence that god will forgive us, how will you feel afterwards? You will be fully relieved. So whatever you do and the mistakes or sin you commit, just be sure to ask God for forgiveness and try your best to stay away from repeating the same mistake again. Allah will forgive, be confident of that.

Reading surah yaseen gives us amazing Rewards

There is another hadith telling us about the rewards that reading surah yaseen brings us, here it is:

“Whoever pursues Surah Yaseen, Allah rewards him that is equivalent to that of perusing the entire Quran.”

The hadith doesn’t require any explanation, reading surah yaseen is equivalent to reading the entire Quran. This reward gives you more than you can ever imagine. So make sure to read surah yaseen daily, and you shall be rewarded.

Facilitates the Death

If you lost a beloved ones make sure to read surah yaseen for them, our prophet talked about the benefits of reading Surah yaseen for the ones we lost and said:

“Recount Yaseen on the individuals who are biting the dust.” — Sunan Abi Dawud

The people we lose need comfort and our help and prayers for them, reading surah yaseen help them gain the help they need.

Solves our life problems

Reading surah yaseen constantly helps us and gives us the courage to face our problems and to not fear them. We have our faith in Allah that we will overcome this problem we are facing now and that what shall happen as long as we have faith, and understand that this is just a test that we will pass one way or another with the help of Allah.

Satisfies the Needs

According to narrators our prophet said that reading surah yaseen grant our wishes, here is the hadith:

“Whoever pursues Surah Yaseen toward the start of the day, every one of his requirements for that day would be satisfied.”

Whenever we need Allah’s help we should turn to the Quran, ask God to help us and grant our wishes. There is no shame in showing God our weakness. The shame is that we have Allah and we choose to ask for human help. No one can help us achieve our dreams and fulfill our wishes but Allah. And that’s what you should have faith in; even if you think that what you’re wishing for is impossible. Allah will always be here for us, and will grant us what we wish for.

What are the Benefits of reading surah yaseen after fajr?

From all we read so far we know that reading surah yaseen has many benefits even more than we can count. Reading Surah Yaseen in the fajr or in the morning even has more benefits to us. But what are those benefits of reading surah yaseen after Fajr or in the morning?

Beside all the benefits that we have seen so far a hadith mentioned two benefits of reading surah yaseen after Fajr or morning, which are:

  •         Allah accepts one’s Dua and fulfills his/ her needs.

As the Prophet Muhammad said, “One who recites Surah Yaseen in the morning, Allah Almighty will be responsible for fulfilling all his needs.”

That’s why you should read surah yaseen every morning or after praying Fajr, and that’s what all Muslims should do.

  • Allah forgives our sins.

When reading surah yaseen allah will forgive us for the wrong things we did. Prophet Muhammad said: “One who recites Surah Yaseen in the morning or night, Allah Almighty would remove all his sins.”

Surah yaseen benefits for marriage, and when should you read surah yaseen?

We have discussed many benefits for reading surah yaseen, and another benefit that we will talk about now is its benefits for marriage. So far we have seen that reciting surah yaseen helps us achieve our goals and needs.

Someone needs might be marriage, which is something essential in life. In order to make the right choice you should read surah yaseen with the intention to ask god for guidance if this is the right choice or not. Surah yaseen helps in blessing the marriage., so read it in the morning or after Fajr.

Surah Yaseen in English.

Here is the English translation so that you can read surah yaseen in English:

“Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Yâ-Sĩn.

By the Quran, rich in wisdom!

You ˹O Prophet˺ are truly one of the messengers

upon the Straight Path.

This is a revelation from the Almighty, Most Merciful,

so that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, and so are heedless.

The decree ˹of torment˺ has already been justified against most of them, for they will never believe.

˹It is as if˺ We have put shackles around their necks up to their chins, so their heads are forced up,

and have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them ˹all˺ up, so they fail to see the truth.

It is the same whether you warn them or not—they will never believe.

You can only warn those who follow the Reminder and are in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing Him. So give them good news of forgiveness and an honorable reward.

It is certainly We Who resurrect the dead, and write what they send forth and what they leave behind. Everything is listed by Us in a perfect Record.

Give them an example ˹O Prophet˺ of the residents of a town, when the messengers came to them.

We sent them two messengers, but they rejected both. So We reinforced ˹the two˺ with a third, and they declared, “We have indeed been sent to you ˹as messengers˺.”

The people replied, “You are only humans like us, and the Most Compassionate has not revealed anything. You are simply lying!”

The messengers responded, “Our Lord knows that we have truly been sent to you.

And our duty is only to deliver the message clearly.”

The people replied, “We definitely see you as a bad omen for us. If you do not desist, we will certainly stone you to death and you will be touched with a painful punishment from us.”

The messengers said, “Your bad omen lies within yourselves. Are you saying this because you are reminded ˹of the truth˺? In fact, you are a transgressing people.”

Then from the farthest end of the city a man came, rushing. He advised, “O my people! Follow the messengers.

Follow those who ask no reward of you, and are ˹rightly˺ guided.

And why should I not worship the One Who has originated me, and to Whom you will be returned.

How could I take besides Him other gods whose intercession would not be of any benefit to me, nor could they save me if the Most Compassionate intended to harm me?

Indeed, I would then be clearly astray.

I do believe in your Lord, so listen to me.”

˹But they killed him, then˺ he was told ˹by the angels˺, “Enter Paradise!” He said, “If only my people knew

of how my Lord has forgiven me, and made me one of the honourable.”

We did not send any soldiers from the heavens against his people after his death, nor did We need to.

All it took was one ˹mighty˺ blast, and they were extinguished at once.

Oh pity, such beings! No messenger ever came to them without being mocked.

Have the deniers not considered how many peoples We destroyed before them who never came back to life again?

Yet they will all be brought before Us.

There is a sign for them in the dead earth: We give it life, producing grain from it for them to eat.

so that they may eat from its fruit, which they had no hand in making. Will they not then give thanks?

Glory be to the One Who created all things in pairs—˹be it˺ what the earth produces, their genders, or what they do not know!

There is also a sign for them in the night: We strip from it daylight, then—behold!—they are in darkness.

The sun travels for its fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing.

As for the moon, We have ordained ˹precise˺ phases for it, until it ends up like an old, curved palm stalk.

It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night outrun the day. Each is traveling in an orbit of their own.

Another sign for them is that We carried their ancestors ˹with Noah˺ in the fully loaded Ark,

and created for them similar things to ride in.

If We willed, We could drown them: then no one would respond to their cries, nor would they be rescued—

except by mercy from Us, allowing them enjoyment for a ˹little˺ while.

˹Still they turn away˺ when it is said to them, “Beware of what is ahead of you ˹in the Hereafter˺ and what is behind you ˹of destroyed nations˺ so you may be shown mercy.”

Whenever a sign comes to them from their Lord, they turn away from it.

And when it is said to them, “Donate from what Allah has provided for you,” the disbelievers say to the believers, “Why should we feed those whom Allah could have fed if He wanted to? You are clearly astray!”

And they ask ˹the believers˺, “When will this threat come to pass if what you say is true?”

They must be awaiting a single Blast, which will seize them while they are ˹entrenched˺ in ˹worldly˺ disputes.

Then they will not be able to make a ˹last˺ will, nor can they return to their own people.

The Trumpet will be blown ˹a second time˺, then—behold!—they will rush from the graves to their Lord.

They will cry, “Woe to us! Who has raised us up from our place of rest? This must be what the Most Compassionate warned us of; the messengers told the truth!”

It will only take one Blast, then at once they will all be brought before Us.

On that Day no soul will be wronged in the least, nor will you be rewarded except for what you used to do.

Indeed, on that Day the residents of Paradise will be busy enjoying themselves.

They and their spouses will be in ˹cool˺ shade, reclining on ˹canopied˺ couches.

There they will have fruits and whatever they desire.

And “Peace!” will be ˹their˺ greeting from the Merciful Lord.

˹Then the disbelievers will be told,˺ “Step away ˹from the believers˺ this Day, O  wicked ones!

Did I not command you, O  Children of Adam, not to follow Satan, for he is truly your sworn enemy,

but to worship Me ˹alone˺? This is the Straight Path.

Yet he already misled great multitudes of you. Did you not have any sense?

This is the Hell you were warned of.

Burn in it Today for your disbelief.”

On this Day We will seal their mouths, their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify to what they used to commit.

Had We willed, We could have easily blinded their eyes, so they would struggle to find their way. How then could they see?

And had We willed, We could have transfigured them on the spot, so they could neither progress forward nor turn back.

And whoever We grant a long life, We reverse them in development. Will they not then understand?

We have not taught him poetry, nor is it fitting for him. This ˹Book˺ is only a Reminder and a clear Quran

to warn whoever is ˹truly˺ alive and fulfill the decree ˹of torment˺ against the disbelievers.

Do they not see that We singlehandedly created for them, among other things, cattle which are under their control?

And We have subjected these ˹animals˺ to them, so they may ride some and eat others.

And they derive from them other benefits and drinks. Will they not then give thanks?

Still they have taken other gods besides Allah, hoping to be helped by them.

They cannot help the pagans, even though they serve the idols as dedicated guards.

So do not let their words grieve you ˹O Prophet˺. Indeed, We ˹fully˺ know what they conceal and what they reveal.

Do people not see that We have created them from a sperm drop, then—behold!—they openly challenge ˹Us˺?

And they argue with Us—forgetting they were created—saying, “Who will give life to decayed bones?”

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “They will be revived by the One Who produced them the first time, for He has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of every created being.

˹He is the One˺ Who gives you fire from green trees, and—behold!—you kindle ˹fire˺ from them.

Can the One Who created the heavens and the earth not ˹easily˺ resurrect these ˹deniers˺?” Yes ˹He can˺! For He is the Master Creator, All-Knowing.

All it takes, when He wills something to be, is simply to say to it: “Be!” And it is!

So glory be to the One in Whose Hands is the authority over all things, and to Whom ˹alone˺ you will ˹all˺ be returned.”

What is the reason for the revelation of Surah Yasin?

Based on the style of surah Yaseen and its subject matter the surah is either revealed during the last stage of the middle Makkan period, or during the last stage of the Holy Prophet’s stay at Makkah.

Here is the reason for the revelation of surah Yasin from hadiths:

Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri said: “The Banu Salamah were settled at one extremity of Medina and wanted to move closer to the mosque [of the Prophet]. This verse was then revealed (Lo! We it is Who bring the dead to life. We record that which they send before them, and their footprints…), and so the Prophet of Allah bless him and give him peace, said to them: ‘Your footprints are recorded, why then do you want to move?’”

Isma‘il ibn al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hasan Tabari informed us, from his grandfather from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sharqi from  ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr from ‘Abd al-Razzaq from alThawri from Sa‘id ibn Turayf from Abu Nadrah that Abu Sa‘id said: “The Banu Salamah complained to the  Messenger, Allah bless him and give him peace, about the remoteness of their homes from the mosque. Allah, exalted is He, then revealed (We record that which they send before them…) upon which the Prophet, Allah bless him and give him peace, said: ‘Do not move from your homes. Your footprints are recorded for you in your favor”.

“Ubayy ibn Khalaf went to the Prophet of Allah bless him and give him peace, with a decayed bone and said to him: ‘O Muhammad, do you think that Allah will bring back to life this decayed bone?’ He said: ‘Yes, He will, and He will also resurrect you and cast you in hellfire’. Allah, exalted is He, then revealed these verses (And he hath coined for Us a similitude, and hath forgotten the fact of his creation, saying: Who will revive these bones when they have rotted away?…) [36:78-79]”.

Sa‘id ibn Muhammad ibn Ja‘far informed us from Abu ‘Ali ibn Abi Bakr al-Faqih from Ahmad ibn al-Husayn ibn al-Junayd from Ziyad ibn Ayyub from Hushaym from Husayn that Abu Malik said: “Ubayy ibn Khalaf al-Jumahi went to the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and give him peace, with a decayed bone which he crushed in his hand and then said: ‘O Muhammad, will Allah resurrect this now that it has become dust?’ He said: ‘Yes, Allah will resurrect it; he will also make you die, bring you back to life, and then cast you in the fire of Gehenna’. This verse was then revealed”.
